It’s obvious to everyone that now is the time for change when it comes to equality. We as a whole have been silent for too long, and it’s time to show our support for the black community and the Black Lives Matter movement; be that through a social media post, peaceful protest, generous donations, or support for black-owned businesses.
Below are some great black-owned brands you should support not only now, but always!
1. Cushnie
Carly Cushnie designed the Cushnie brand with the goal of “embodying a refined sense of cosmopolitan minimalism and femininity.” We’ve seen plenty of celebrity support for this brand including our favorite Israeli actress, Gal Gadot. Check out their website to find both ready to wear womenswear and even bridal collections!
2. Fenty
Started by none other than world-renowned singer Rhianna, Fenty offers a luxury taste of fashion while providing you with some staples for your wardrobe, from lingerie to makeup and more. They are only available online, so be sure to check in for new drops.
3. Jade Swim
With summer already here, Jade Swim is a must-have brand for your closet! It provides pieces that are both classy and edgy, what more could you want in a bathing suit. Founded by Brittany Kozerski, this is surely a brand you don’t want to pass up.
4. Brother Vellies
Aurora James began Brother Vellies in 2013 with the hopes of introducing African tradition to modern fashion. Growing up with a father from a Jewish background, James certainly has a diverse history that is obviously one worth supporting. Brother Vellies offers sustainable accessories that are all made with clear attention to detail, giving its customers a long-lasting, worthwhile purchase.
5. Mateo New York
Mateo New York originally started off as a jewelry brand for men, but in 2014 founder Matthew Harris decided to extend to women’s fine jewelry as well. We’ve seen plenty of support from Jewish celebrities for Mateo, including actress Jenny Slate. Being sold at some of the biggest stores across America, Mateo thrives on being relatable, modern, and affordable.
